From June 6 to 8, the G8 leaders will meet for their annual summit in Heiligendamm, Germany.
The G8 members are Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, the United States of America, Canada (since 1976) and Russia (since 1998). Together, these countries represent about 65% of the world economy. The European Commission is also represented at all the meetings.
The annual summits are the most visible elements of the G8 process.

Rostock, 12 June, 2007. Forty Community radio journalists from more than twenty countries and a 24/24 coverage via internet and satellite. This was the effort made by the European section of the World Association of Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) to ensure the coverage of the G8 Summit in Heiligendamn and of the alternative summit in Rostock, which ended June 8.
Rostock, June 6. Forty Community radio journalists from more than twenty countries are producing and broadcasting programs in 6 languages, available via internet and satellite 24/24. This is the radio coverage organized by the European section of the World Association of Radio Broadcasters (AMARC) for the G8 Summit in Heiligendamn and for the alternative summit in Rostock, which end on June 8.
Ramnath Bhat, from VOICES, a media advocacy group based in Bangalore, India and a member of AMARC Asia Pacific, attended the Alternative Summit held in Rostock, specifically to produce programs on the activities surrounding both the Alternative Summit and the official G8 Summit which was held in Heiligendamm, Germany.
Rome, 30 May 2007. The German Association of Free Radios (BFR), the European Section of AMARC and the international network of community radios all over the plane twill broadcast alternative information about the activities surrounding the G8 Summit. The informal closed club where eight rich countries act as “masters of the world”, will be held this year from 6-8 June in Heiligendam, Germany. The G8 members are Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, the United States of America, Canada (since 1976) and Russia (since 1998).
On the occasion of the G8-summit 2007, various counter-events and actions are scheduled to take place in Northern Germany. At the start of a week of protests (2nd to 8th June) approx. 100.000 people are expected in Rostock and the surrounding area of the official venue of the summit (Heiligendamm). This will include a large number of journalists and media activists.

Approximativement 100.000 personnes sont attendues à Rostock et dans les environs où le sommet va se tenir (Heiligendamm), au début de la semaine de protestations (du 2 au 8 Juin). Dans ce nombre sont inclus les journalistes et les activistes de media.
